We welcome you to an interesting day with visits to three different study objects: 

Neste Kilipilahti (Sköldvik) Plant, Hakevuori terminal and Porvoon Energia bioCHP-plant.

Stop 1. Neste Biorefinery

Neste Biorefinery is a world leading company in renewable diesel and is helping the customers to reduce their carbon footprint. Neste Renewable Diesel made from 100% renewable raw materials can result in even 90% lower greenhouse gas emissions over its lifecycle when compared to petroleum diesel. We will visit Neste’s refinery in Kilpilahti industrial area in Porvoo.


Stop 2. Hakevuori wood terminal

Hakevuori’s terminal is situated 15 km from Porvoo. It is a local company feeding several boilers in southern Finland. The company started in 2007 and is focusing on chipping and wood chips sales including own wood procurement. Hakevuori has 7 mobile chippers for roadside use and 1 for chipping at terminals.

Stop 3. Porvoon Energia bioCHP-plant

Porvoon Energia is a municipal energy company using all renewables – wood, biogas, wind and solar – for heat and electricity production. Wood supply chain is employing local companies operating in the region. The new boiler was started in 2013 and the old boiler using wood and coal was retrofitted to biomass-only earlier. The district heat is produced close to 100% by renewable energy.
